Critical Meeting Held in Serpent River First Nation

On Saturday, October 22nd, CAPT, the East Algoma Chiefs Mayors and Reeves Council, Transport Pontiac-Renfrew, Algoma-Manitoulin federal and provincial representatives (Carol Hughes and Michael Mantha, respectively), and several concerned citizens met in Serpent River First Nation to discuss the options available in working towards saving a section of CP rail that runs from Pembroke to Mattawa. This ribbon of rail is extremely important to us in the Algoma region, as it serves as a vital link between us and Ottawa, Montreal, and the eastern seaboard. If it is lifted from the ground, the vision of a passenger rail connection from Algoma to the country’s capital will suffer an undeniable blow.
